No reservations here. You arrive, wait a little, eat well.

It is not rudeness: it is how we keep the trattoria open to everyone. The queue outside is part of the ritual. Better to arrive early, especially on Fridays.

Our story

More than sixty years at the same table.

In 1965 Stelio and Grazia opened a small trattoria in Piazza Dante. Not much has changed here since: the wood, the photos on the walls, the smell coming from the kitchen and the everyday dishes, the ones that are really cooked.

Today the family is still in the kitchen. Stelio is 91 and moves between the tables greeting the guests, one by one. Students, professors, workers, tourists: at noon a piece of Pisa sits down, and for an hour we are all at home.

“A typical Pisan trattoria where friendliness and good food feel at home. The arista is delicious and their homemade desserts are the best. Excellent prices. Recommended.”

“Unfortunately places like this are increasingly rare. Here you breathe authentic food, welcome, familiarity and friendliness. Every time I return to Pisa, I will come here, even happily taking a number and waiting my turn. The owner and founder Stelio is a special person: full of warmth and energy despite his ninety years.”

“We were truly happy to eat here; we chose the place at random because it looked welcoming and typical. We were really pleased with how well we ate, in simplicity and in an atmosphere rich with tradition and passion. We will certainly remember to return on our next trip to Pisa.”

Before you come

Things to know.

The questions we are asked most often, with the answers we would give at the table.

Can I book a table?

No. We do not take reservations. You arrive, wait your turn and eat. The queue moves faster than it looks: it is part of the ritual.

How much does it cost?

The full lunch — first course, second course, dessert, water and cover charge — costs €19.50 per person. Set menus start from €6.50. House wine is paid separately, the cover charge is €1.00.

When are you open?

Lunch only, Monday to Friday, from 12:00 to 15:00. We are closed on Saturday and Sunday.

Do you do takeaway?

Yes. You can order takeaway during our normal opening hours (12:00 to 15:00). Drop by, we prepare the containers and you take it away.

Are there vegetarian or vegan dishes?

Yes. Tomato pasta, arrabbiata, minestrone, salads and side dishes are vegetarian; many first courses can be prepared without animal products. Tell the staff and we will see what we can do.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, dogs are welcome. The dining room is small, so it is better if they stay under the table.

Do you accept cards?

Yes, we accept credit cards.

Do you accept meal vouchers?

Yes, we accept electronic meal vouchers from Ticket Restaurant, Pellegrini, Day and BluBe.

Is there Wi-Fi?

Yes, it is free. Ask the staff in the dining room for the password or look for it on the menu.

Do you have high chairs for children?
