It isn't rudeness: it's how we keep the trattoria open to everyone. The line outside is part of the ritual. Better to come early, especially on Fridays.

Our story

More than sixty years at the same table.

In 1965 Stelio and Grazia opened a small trattoria in Piazza Dante. Not much has changed since: the wood, the photos on the walls, the smell drifting out of the kitchen and the everyday dishes, the ones that are really cooked.

Today the family is still in the kitchen. Stelio is 91 and works his way between the tables greeting the guests, one by one. Students, professors, workers, tourists: at noon a slice of Pisa sits down, and for an hour we're all at home.

“A typical Pisan trattoria where warmth and good food feel right at home. The arista is delicious and the desserts they make themselves are the best. Great prices. Recommended.”

“Sadly, places like this are fewer and fewer all the time. Here you taste real food, hospitality, familiarity and warmth. Every time I come back to Pisa, I'll come here, even gladly taking a number and waiting my turn. The owner and founder Stelio is a special person: full of charm and energy despite his ninety years.”

“We were really glad we ate here; we picked the place at random because it looked welcoming and authentic. We were truly happy with how well we ate, in all simplicity and in an atmosphere brimming with tradition and passion. We'll definitely remember to come back on our next trip to Pisa.”

Before you come

Things to know.

The questions we get most often, with the answers we'd give you at the table.

Can I make a reservation?

No. We don't take reservations. You show up, wait your turn and eat. The line moves faster than it looks: it's part of the ritual.

How much does it cost?

The full lunch — first course, second course, dessert, water and cover charge — costs €19.50 per person. Deals start at €6.50. House wine is charged separately, and the cover charge is €1.00.

When are you open?

Lunch only, Monday through Friday, from 12:00 to 15:00. We're closed on Saturday and Sunday.

Do you do takeout?

Yes. You can order takeout during our regular opening hours (12:00 to 15:00). Stop by, we pack it in containers and you take it with you.

Do you have vegetarian or vegan dishes?

Yes. Tomato pasta, arrabbiata, minestrone, salads and side dishes are vegetarian; many first courses can be made without animal products. Just tell the staff and we'll see what we can do.

Is there Wi-Fi?

Do you have high chairs for kids?

Yes, we have them for the little ones. Just ask the dining room staff as soon as you sit down.

Do you have dishes for celiacs?
